Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rainfall is expected to continue across Kerala on Sunday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a Yellow Alert for three northern districts.
The alert has been issued for Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts, where heavy rainfall is likely. The weather department has also forecast that the wet spell may continue until Tuesday.
Fishing has been prohibited along the Kerala, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep coasts due to adverse sea conditions. The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has also warned of high waves and rough sea conditions along the coastal areas of Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts.
Authorities have advised the public to remain vigilant, as isolated heavy rainfall is expected. Heavy rain is defined as rainfall between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within a 24-hour period.
