Thiruvananthapuram: Communicable diseases continue to spread across Kerala, with 13,539 people seeking treatment for various fever-related illnesses on Friday, according to health department data.
Malappuram reported the highest number of fever cases in the state, with 2,734 people affected. A total of 98 dengue cases were confirmed on the day, while 303 people sought treatment with symptoms suspected to be dengue fever.
Health authorities also reported 21 cases of leptospirosis (rat fever), four cases of malaria, and 10 cases of shigellosis. Additionally, 39 people were diagnosed with jaundice.
One case of amoebic meningoencephalitis, three cases of chikungunya, 109 cases of chickenpox, one case of rabies, and one case of tick-borne fever were also confirmed.
Meanwhile, a woman undergoing treatment for fever died in Kozhikode. The deceased has been identified as Sunitha, a resident of Mavoor. She passed away while receiving treatment at a private hospital in the district.
