Parliamentary Panel Flags Persistent Exam Irregularities, Seeks Reform Roadmap

A Parliamentary Standing Committee has raised concerns over the continued occurrence of examination irregularities despite corrective measures introduced by the government. The panel has urged the Ministry of Education to publish a time-bound roadmap for implementing reforms recommended by a high-level committee.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports, chaired by Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh, submitted its 381st Action Taken Report on Tuesday to Rajya Sabha Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan.

The report reviews actions taken on recommendations contained in the committee’s 364th report on the Demands for Grants (2025–26) related to the Department of Higher Education.

The committee endorsed Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s observation made on June 16, 2024, that significant improvements are still needed in the functioning of the National Testing Agency. It recommended that the agency expedite the implementation of reforms proposed by the Radhakrishnan Committee to strengthen the examination system and restore public confidence.
