BJP Criticises Tamil Nadu Government Over Rise in Crimes Against Women and Girls

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly criticised the state government over the reported increase in crimes against women and girls, alleging that public safety has deteriorated and that people are living in fear.

State BJP President Nainar Nagenthran claimed that five girls were sexually assaulted in separate incidents on a single day in Tamil Nadu. Condemning the incidents, he announced that the party would stage a massive protest on June 18, demanding stronger measures to prevent sexual crimes against women and children.

Referring to the death of a three-year-old girl following an alleged sexual assault near Gummidipoondi on Monday, Nagenthran said the incident had shocked the public and raised serious concerns about law and order in the state.

He alleged that people had voted for the present government hoping for positive change, but were instead witnessing an increase in violent crimes against women and girls. The BJP leader urged the government to take immediate and effective action to ensure the safety and security of women and children across Tamil Nadu.

The ruling government has not yet issued an official response to the BJP’s latest allegations.
