Muraleedharan Defends RSS, Questions CM Over Remarks on Vice-Chancellors

Thiruvananthapuram: BJP leader V. Muraleedharan on Sunday defended the RSS, stating that it is not a banned organisation, and questioned Chief Minister V.D Satheeshan over his criticism of vice-chancellors who attended RSS events. He asked under which university rules their participation could be considered a violation and challenged the government to take legal action if any such provision exists.

Muraleedharan alleged that the Chief Minister was attempting to intimidate vice-chancellors to prevent them from attending similar programmes in the future. He pointed out that several vice-chancellors across the country had participated in RSS centenary celebrations and noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has an RSS background.

The BJP leader further claimed that the statements made by the Chief Minister and the Leader of the Opposition were aimed at appeasing organisations such as Jamaat-e-Islami and SDPI. He also recalled that the Centre had lifted restrictions on government employees participating in RSS activities in 2024 and described the RSS as a movement deeply connected with India’s ethos and values.
