Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed grief over the loss of lives in a tragic road accident in Maharashtra’s Solapur district and announced financial assistance for the victims’ families.
Eight people, including four women and four children, were killed and seven others injured when a pick-up vehicle carrying them plunged into a roadside well in Malshiras tehsil of Solapur. The injured are undergoing treatment.
The Prime Minister announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured. Modi also conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to those hurt in the accident.
