A case of Nipah virus infection has been confirmed in Kozhikode district. The patient, a 43-year-old resident of Farook, is currently undergoing treatment at MIMS Hospital.
Following the confirmation, healthcare workers at MIMS Hospital who came into contact with the patient are expected to enter quarantine as part of precautionary measures.
State Health Minister K. Muraleedharan has directed officials to convene an emergency meeting to review the situation. The Kozhikode District Collector has been instructed to organize the meeting, which is expected to be held on Wednesday.
In accordance with Health Department guidelines, the patient has been placed in isolation and is being closely monitored.
The Health Minister urged the public not to panic, stating that necessary preventive and containment measures have already been initiated by the authorities. Officials are also expected to intensify contact tracing and surveillance activities to prevent the spread of the infection.
