Thrissur: BJP State Vice-President Shone George on Friday said the recent court verdict in the CMRL-related case is the strongest proof that India’s judiciary cannot be influenced or bought.
Speaking to reporters in Thrissur, Shone George said the judgment was delivered without even granting sufficient time to approach the Supreme Court, thereby allowing the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to proceed with further investigation and necessary legal action.
He said the case pertains to corruption allegations involving the daughter of former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and claimed that the verdict demonstrated that truth had prevailed.
Shone George further alleged that even the internal rules of the Communist Party do not permit such financial gains. Referring to claims by CPM leaders that GST had been paid on the money received, he said issuing invoices without providing any service would amount to a serious violation of GST laws.
If it is established that invoices were issued without rendering services, the matter could fall under GST fraud, and action could be initiated under the relevant legal provisions, he alleged. He added that the state government also has the authority to investigate the matter and register a case if necessary.
Shone maintained that the ultimate responsibility in the CMRL case rests with Pinarayi Vijayan and said the ongoing investigation would bring all facts related to the case to light.
