New Delhi: Authorities are reportedly considering placing Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijith Dipke under preventive detention following an assessment of potential security threats linked to the party’s proposed protest activities.
According to reports, Dipke, who is currently in the United States, is expected to arrive in India on Saturday. Authorities have decided to take him into custody upon his arrival at the Delhi airport.
Dipke has announced a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi beginning June 6. Ahead of the demonstration, he had called on his supporters to gather at the Delhi airport to welcome him upon arrival. The CJP is currently demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Meanwhile, Dipke said he is aware that he may be arrested immediately after landing in Delhi. He also claimed that he has received several death threats over the past few days.
Stating that he is not afraid of the allegations or threats, Dipke affirmed that he would continue with his stand.
