Police Register Case in Happyland Amusement Park Accident

Police have registered a case in connection with the accident at Happyland Amusement Park near Venjaramoodu, where a ride reportedly collapsed leaving several people injured.

According to reports, the case was registered by the Kerala Police at the Venjaramoodu police station. Officials said some of the injured are in serious condition, and members of a single family were among those hurt in the incident.

A village officer visited the site, and a report on the accident will be submitted to the district collector. Following the incident, criticism has intensified over the park’s safety measures and alleged failure to follow mandatory safety standards.

Kerala Tourism Minister P C Vishnunath said local bodies are responsible for reviewing licences if safety norms are violated. He added that instructions had been issued to the district administration to ensure proper medical facilities for the injured and to strengthen safety inspections at similar establishments.

Locals also alleged delays in rescue operations and claimed visitors were not immediately evacuated after the accident. Authorities have temporarily suspended the functioning of the amusement park pending further investigation.
