Eid-ul-Adha prayers were offered peacefully across the national capital on Thursday under heavy security arrangements, officials said.
According to Delhi Police, additional police personnel, anti-riot vehicles and quick reaction teams were deployed in sensitive areas to maintain law and order during the festival.
Elaborate security measures were put in place from early morning around major mosques, Eidgahs and other identified sensitive locations across the city, especially in northeast and north Delhi districts.
Officials said cyber monitoring teams were also keeping a close watch on social media platforms to prevent the spread of inflammatory posts, rumours or objectionable videos related to the festival.
Police authorities stated that the prayers and celebrations concluded peacefully without any major untoward incidents being reported from the city.
