The state is likely to receive isolated light rain and thunderstorms on Friday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert in five districts of Kerala. Weather authorities have warned of the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning and gusty winds in some regions.
According to the IMD forecast, yellow alert has been declared in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, and Kannur districts for the day. A yellow alert indicates the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall ranging between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within 24 hours.
The weather department has advised the public to remain cautious, especially in areas vulnerable to landslides, flooding, and strong winds. Residents living near rivers, hilly regions, and low-lying areas have been urged to follow official safety instructions and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rainfall.
Authorities also warned against entering rivers and other water bodies, while travellers have been advised to exercise caution on roads and avoid tourism activities in waterfalls and hilly destinations until weather conditions improve.
