Shyam Manav, founder-president of the Akhil Bhartiya Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti, on Friday alleged that the Maharashtra government has failed to effectively implement the state’s anti-black magic law.
He claimed that funds allocated by the previous Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) government for awareness programmes under the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act had been stopped by the current administration.
According to Manav, the move has weakened the implementation of the law and rendered it “toothless”.
He also accused the Devendra Fadnavis-led government of promoting superstition by honouring “fake babas and godmen”.
