Ahead of his first official visit to India, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the United States is prepared to expand energy exports to India and described the country as a “great partner.”
Speaking to reporters in Miami before departing for Sweden and India, Rubio said the US was willing to sell as much energy as India is ready to purchase.
“We want to sell them as much energy as they’ll buy,” Rubio said, noting that the US is currently witnessing historic levels of energy production and exports.
Rubio also said his India visit would be significant as it would provide an opportunity to meet ministers from the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue nations.
The remarks come amid growing cooperation between India and the United States in areas including energy, trade and strategic partnerships.
