Scientific examination has confirmed that the tiger tooth seized from rapper Vedan is genuine. The test was conducted at a zoological laboratory in Kolkata, officials said.
Following the confirmation, the Forest Department is preparing to file a chargesheet in the case.
The incident dates back to April last year, when police conducted a raid at Vedan’s flat based on information that narcotic substances were being used there. During the inspection, officials recovered a tiger tooth from the premises.
The case was later handed over to the Forest Department. Preliminary examination by forest officials had also indicated that the pendant contained a real tiger tooth, following which Vedan was arrested.
However, the rapper was later granted bail by the court, which observed at the time that there was no prima facie evidence establishing his involvement in the offence.
