Counting of votes for the Kerala Assembly elections began on Monday, with results expected to determine whether the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) will retain power for a third consecutive term or if the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) will stage a comeback. The performance of the BJP-led NDA is also being closely watched.
Polling was held across 30,945 booths in all 140 constituencies, recording a voter turnout of 79.70 per cent.
While most exit polls released on April 29 predicted a return of the UDF to power, the LDF has rejected these projections, asserting that there is no anti-incumbency sentiment in the state.
Early trends are expected to emerge within hours, offering a clearer picture of Kerala’s political direction.
