Chlorine Gas Leak in Pune Leaves 24 Hospitalised

At least 24 people, including two fire personnel, were hospitalised following a chlorine gas leak in the Kondhwa area of Pune in the early hours of Thursday, officials said.

The incident occurred around 1 am at a defunct water purification plant godown in the Gangadham locality, where chlorine gas reportedly leaked from an abandoned storage tank.

Residents in the vicinity experienced breathing difficulties and irritation, prompting emergency services to rush to the spot. Fire personnel contained the situation and shifted the affected individuals to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Authorities are monitoring the situation, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the leak.
