Chikmagalur: The postmortem of Sreenanda, a native of Kadambazhipuram in Palakkad, who went missing during a sightseeing trip to Chikmagalur, will be conducted on Friday, officials said.
Authorities have decided to carry out the postmortem at the district hospital in Chikmagalur, treating it as a special case despite delays. Following the procedure, the body will be handed over to the family, who are expected to return home thereafter.
Meanwhile, a Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) team is examining the location where the body was recovered. The inspection is being carried out in the presence of Sreenanda’s father.
Chikmagalur Superintendent of Police Jitendra Dayama said the investigation will also look into allegations raised by the family to verify their claims.
Sreenanda had gone missing on Tuesday evening during the trip. After an extensive four-day search operation, her body was found at a depth of around 1,500 feet in a difficult terrain on Friday.
