Sambhal (UP): Residents of Mubarakpur Band village in Sambhal district on Sunday voluntarily demolished several structures, including a madrasa, a mosque and a primary school, alleging that they were illegally constructed on encroached Gram Sabha land, officials said.
The demolition was carried out using a bulldozer arranged and funded by the villagers themselves. The structures, including the Ghausul Madrasa, were spread across approximately three-and-a-half bighas of government land.
According to officials, the move followed a request made on Saturday by Haji Munawwar, husband of the village sarpanch, to Tehsildar Dhirendra Kumar Singh seeking machinery support, citing the difficulty of carrying out the demolition manually.
A bulldozer was subsequently deployed on Sunday, and the structures were cleared in the presence of local authorities. Officials said further verification of land records and legal aspects related to the encroachment is underway.
