India signs green ammonia agreements to boost clean energy transition

NEW DELHI: India has taken a major step towards clean energy with the signing of green ammonia agreements under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The agreements were exchanged between fertiliser companies and green ammonia producers at an event attended by Union Minister JP Nadda and Union Minister Pralhad Joshi.

A total of 11 projects have been initiated to support the fertiliser sector. Officials said the move aims to reduce dependence on imported ammonia and ensure stable supply for domestic fertiliser production.

Indian companies have signed long-term agreements for 10 years at fixed prices to avoid global market volatility. The initiative is also expected to save foreign exchange, boost self-reliance, and create new job opportunities. It will further promote investment in green ammonia production and strengthen India’s transition to clean energy.
