890 Candidates in Fray for Kerala Assembly Polls; 95 Withdraw Nominations

A total of 890 candidates are contesting the Kerala Assembly elections. The list was released by the Election Commission of India after the deadline for withdrawal of nominations ended on Thursday. As many as 95 candidates withdrew from the race.

Koduvally has the highest number of candidates, with 13 in the fray. Peravoor, Manjeswaram and Thiruvananthapuram follow with 11 candidates each. Nemom, Changanassery, Kalamassery, Manalur and Perambra have 10 candidates each.

Several candidates faced disappointment over symbol allocation. AK Saseendran did not get the expected clock symbol in Elathur and was allotted a trumpet symbol. G Sudhakaran received a coconut grove symbol in Ambalappuzha. PV Anwar was given a gas cylinder symbol.

Meanwhile, NCP candidate PK Saseendran, aligned with Ajit Pawar, secured the clock symbol. KK Rama, who expected a football symbol, was allotted a television symbol.
