Strait of Hormuz Disruption Unacceptable, India Pushing for Dialogue: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said India is advocating dialogue and diplomacy to address the ongoing crisis in West Asia, while terming attacks on commercial shipping and any disruption of the Strait of Hormuz as unacceptable.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Modi emphasised that the government is actively engaging with oil and gas suppliers across multiple countries to ensure uninterrupted energy supplies.

He also assured that the safety of Indian nationals in the conflict-affected region remains a top priority. “I have spoken to the heads of state of West Asian countries, and they have assured the safety of Indians,” he said.

Addressing concerns over possible fuel shortages, the Prime Minister stated that India is maintaining constant communication with international suppliers to secure oil and gas from alternative sources if required.

Modi further noted that all power plants in the country currently have sufficient coal reserves and that India is well-prepared in terms of food security, aiming to reassure citizens amid rising global uncertainty.
