KPCC Releases First Candidate List; Nine Women Included

The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has announced its first list of candidates for the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections. The list includes nine women candidates. Among the key names, Aisha Potty, who recently left the CPM, has been included in the list.

Usha Vijayan will contest from Mananthavady, a Scheduled Tribe constituency in Wayanad district. K. A. Thulasi has been fielded from Kongad, which is reserved for Scheduled Castes. Sitting MLA Uma Thomas will contest again from Thrikkakara. Shanimol Usman will contest from Aroor, where a strong contest is expected. Advocate Muthara Raju has been named as the candidate from Mavelikkara, another Scheduled Caste constituency.

In Kollam, the party has fielded two prominent women leaders. P. Aisha Potty will contest from Kottarakkara, while Bindu Krishna will contest from the Kollam constituency. Former MP Ramya Haridas will contest from Chirayinkeezhu.

The release of the first list signals the party’s preparations for the upcoming elections, with a focus on including women candidates across key constituencies.
