Earthquake Jolts Southern Iran Amid Escalating US–Israel Strikes; 13 Soldiers Reported Killed

Tehran: A 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck southern Iran on Tuesday, adding to tensions in a region already rattled by ongoing US–Israel military strikes. The tremor was recorded in the Gerash area at a depth of 10 kilometres, according to the United States Geological Survey. Authorities confirmed that there were no immediate reports of casualties or major damage from the quake, even as the country grapples with heightened security concerns.

The earthquake comes against the backdrop of intensified airstrikes targeting Iranian military installations. Local media reported that at least 13 Iranian soldiers were killed in an attack on Kerman Airport, located about 800 kilometres southeast of Tehran. The facility, which reportedly houses military helicopters, was the intended target of the strike, the Tasnim News Agency reported. With both natural and geopolitical tremors shaking the region, tensions continue to mount across Iran.
