Thiruvananthapuram: Responding swiftly to the escalating tensions in the Middle East, the Kerala government has postponed the SSLC and Plus Two examinations scheduled in Gulf countries, prioritising student safety above all. The SSLC exam slated for Thursday and the Plus Two exams planned for the 5th, 6th, and 7th of this month have been deferred. Education Minister V. Sivankutty confirmed that revised dates will be announced in due course.
The Education Department acknowledged concerns that some students in the Gulf and Kerala may be unable to reach examination centres under the current circumstances. Students who are unable to appear have been directed to submit applications through their respective school principals to the Director of General Education at the earliest. Assuring full support, the minister stated that each case will be reviewed on merit and favourable decisions will be taken in the students’ best interests. Minister also expressed profound sorrow over reports of children killed in attacks on schools in Iran, conveying the solidarity and condolences of Kerala’s General Education Department.
