WhatsApp to Let Users See Who Shared Their Status, New Privacy-Focused Update on the Way

New Delhi: WhatsApp is rolling out a new privacy-enhancing update that will give users greater control and visibility over their Status posts. According to a report by WABetaInfo, the messaging platform is testing a feature that allows users to see who has shared their status updates and whether those posts have been reshared.

The upcoming feature enables users to check Status privacy settings directly within the Status interface, eliminating the need to rely on memory or navigate through multiple settings menus. This move is aimed at making Status updates more transparent and secure.

The feature is currently available in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android (version 2.26.2.9). Users can review and manage who can view their status before posting, offering better control over audience selection. At present, the update is limited to beta testers.

As per the report, a new option appears within the Status views menu. When users open the menu, they will find a “New Audience” option, which reveals details about who shared the status and how it was circulated.

With this update, WhatsApp is taking another step towards strengthening user privacy and control. The feature is expected to reach all users in a future stable release after the beta testing phase.
