Constitution Key to Ending Colonial Mindset, Building a Confident India: President Murmu

Marking Constitution Day at the historic Central Hall of the old Parliament—now called Samvidhan Sadan—President Droupadi Murmu said the Indian Constitution stands as a powerful guide for the nation to shed its colonial mindset and embrace a modern, nationalistic vision.

In her address, President Murmu said India is now showcasing “a new model of development for the world,” where democratic values blend seamlessly with social welfare goals. She highlighted that lifting 25 crore citizens out of poverty remains one of the country’s most significant achievements of recent times.

As part of the celebrations, the President launched a digital edition of the Constitution in nine Indian languages, including Malayalam, aimed at enhancing accessibility and public participation.

Murmu underscored that the Constitution’s timeless principles—justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity—must guide national policymaking, ensuring dignity and opportunity for all sections of society, including women, youth, SC/ST communities, farmers, and the middle class.

Emphasizing India’s forward momentum, she said the Constitution is not merely a historic document but the living soul of a confident and rising nation, steering its journey toward inclusive growth and self-assurance.
