The northeast monsoon continues to intensify, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms across isolated parts of Kerala today and tomorrow.
A yellow alert has been declared for Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts, where strong downpours are expected. The IMD has urged residents to stay vigilant, as intense rain may lead to waterlogging, lightning incidents, and local flooding in low-lying areas.
According to the IMD, “heavy rain” indicates 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rainfall within 24 hours. Officials have advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel and take precautionary measures as the monsoon showers gain strength across the southern districts.
