Kochi: Public sector oil companies have announced that all domestic LPG consumers must complete e-KYC renewal every year to continue receiving the government’s LPG subsidy. The directive applies especially to beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), who must complete their KYC update before March 31, 2026.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has clarified that those who fail to complete the e-KYC process will lose eligibility for LPG subsidies. Following this directive, oil companies have issued a detailed notification outlining the procedure and deadlines.
Consumers are required to undergo biometric verification once every financial year, even if they have previously completed the process. Failure to renew KYC before March 31 will lead to the suspension of subsidies for the 8th and 9th LPG refills of that financial year. Continued non-compliance may result in complete cancellation of the subsidy.
Under the PMUY scheme, eligible consumers receive a ₹300 subsidy for each 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder, up to nine refills per year. The KYC renewal aims to ensure that the subsidy amount reaches the rightful beneficiaries directly.
Consumers can update their e-KYC through:
- The respective LPG distributor or agency,
- Online portals and official company apps, or
- At the time of cylinder delivery, with the help of delivery personnel equipped with biometric devices.
For online updates, users must download the company’s official app and the Aadhaar Face RD app for face authentication. The e-KYC process can also be accessed through the official website: http://www.pmuy.gov.in/e-kyc.html.
