PM Modi Extends Warm Greetings on Kerala Piravi — Celebrating the Birth and Spirit of God’s Own Country

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Kerala on the occasion of Kerala Piravi Day, which marks the formation of the state. In his message, the Prime Minister praised Kerala for its global achievements, cultural richness, and natural beauty.

“Warm wishes on Kerala Piravi! This is a state whose people have been excelling in diverse sectors globally and have distinguished themselves for their creativity as well as innovation. The state’s scenic landscapes and centuries-old heritage reflect India’s vibrant cultural grandeur. May the people of Kerala always be blessed with good health and success,” Prime Minister Modi said.

Kerala Piravi, meaning “Birth of Kerala,” is celebrated every year on November 1 to commemorate the formation of the state in 1956. Before this unification, Malayalam-speaking regions were spread across the princely states of Travancore and Cochin, along with the Malabar region, which was under the Madras Presidency. The creation of Kerala was part of the historic States Reorganisation Act, which reorganised Indian states based on linguistic identity — a major step toward unity and cultural preservation.

Kerala Piravi is not just a foundation day — it’s a celebration of unity, identity, and progress. It symbolizes the coming together of people from diverse regions and traditions under one banner of shared language and culture. The day reminds Keralites of their remarkable journey from fragmented regions to a progressive and inclusive state known for its high literacy, healthcare excellence, and cultural depth.

Across the state, schools, colleges, and institutions come alive with celebrations on Kerala Piravi Day. Flag-hoisting ceremonies, essay and quiz competitions, and vibrant cultural programs are held to honor the state’s history and heritage. Traditional performances like Mohiniyattam, Theyyam, and various folk arts showcase Kerala’s timeless charm.

People dress in traditional attire — women in elegant kasavu sarees and men in mundu — embodying the spirit of Malayali pride. The festivities reflect not just nostalgia but also hope, as citizens look ahead to Kerala’s continued journey of development and harmony

Kerala Piravi stands as a day of pride and reflection — celebrating a land that continues to inspire the world with its beauty, culture, and progressive values. With Prime Minister Modi’s greetings, Kerala’s legacy as God’s Own Country shines even brighter on the national stage.
