18-Year-Old Divya Deshmukh Crowned World Champion in Historic All-Indian Chess Final

Divya Deshmukh, just 18 years old, has claimed the FIDE Women’s Chess World Cup title, defeating veteran Grandmaster Koneru Humpy in a thrilling all-Indian final. The victory marks India’s first-ever Women’s World Cup crown, setting a new milestone in the nation’s chess legacy.

The championship match was closely contested, with both classical games ending in draws. Divya emerged victorious in the tie-breakers with a score of 1.5–0.5, sealing her place in the history books.
