Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the 10th anniversary of the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ initiative, lauding its evolution into a nationwide movement that has effectively tackled gender biases and championed girls’ education across India.
Originally launched on January 22, 2015, in Panipat, Haryana, the program was aimed at addressing the alarming decline in child sex ratios and empowering women throughout their lives. Over the past decade, it has grown into a transformative effort, drawing enthusiastic participation from communities, organizations, and citizens.
Prime Minister Modi highlighted the initiative’s success in creating opportunities for girls to pursue education and achieve their aspirations. He pointed to measurable improvements in districts that historically struggled with low child sex ratios, crediting this progress to collective societal efforts.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to gender equality, the Prime Minister urged continued focus on protecting the rights of daughters, fostering education, and eliminating discrimination. He envisioned an India where every girl has the freedom to thrive and succeed without bias or barriers.
