New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has warned that ongoing wars and rising strategic rivalries are reshaping the global order, redrawing the boundaries of both cooperation and conflict.
Speaking at the Kautilya Economic Conclave 2025, Sitharaman highlighted how sanctions, tariffs, and decoupling strategies are dismantling traditional supply chains and testing old alliances, while paving the way for new coalitions in a rapidly shifting geopolitical landscape.
FM described today’s turbulence not as a short-term disruption but a structural transformation, demanding stronger resilience from economies worldwide. Emphasizing India’s position, she said the nation remains anchored in strong domestic fundamentals, allowing it to withstand external shocks and emerge as a stabilising force amid global uncertainty.
Sitharaman also underlined the urgent need to reform international institutions, insisting they must reflect the realities of emerging economies instead of clinging to outdated hierarchies. FM cautioned that with trade, finance, and energy imbalances mounting, nations can no longer just manage these pressures—they must confront them head-on.
