In a significant shift for Indian aviation, Vistara will stop taking bookings for flights scheduled on or after November 12, 2024, as it prepares to merge with Air India. The last Vistara-branded flight will be on November 11, 2024, after which the airline’s operations will be fully integrated into Air India.
This merger, announced in November 2022, marks a strategic move by Tata Group to unify its aviation assets. The consolidation of Vistara, a joint venture between Tata and Singapore Airlines, with Air India, will create one of the world’s largest airline groups. Passengers can expect an expanded network, enhanced services, and a unified loyalty program.
Singapore Airlines, which will hold a 25.1% stake in the merged entity, recently received the green light from the Indian government for foreign direct investment (FDI), signaling the final steps toward this merger. Both airlines have pledged to ensure a seamless transition for customers, aiming to minimize any disruption during this integration.
This merger represents a bold step forward in strengthening India’s presence in the global aviation market.
