‘Uday’ Rises as Aadhaar’s New Identity: UIDAI Unveils Fresh Logo Designed by a Malayali

Thiruvananthapuram: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has given Aadhaar a fresh visual identity by unveiling its new official logo, aptly named ‘Uday’, symbolising clarity, accessibility, and inclusiveness in Aadhaar services.

The logo was selected through a nationwide design competition, with the winning entry created by Arun Gokul from Thrissur, Kerala. His design stood out among 875 entries submitted by students, professionals, and designers from across the country, earning national recognition for the young Malayali designer.

The new logo was formally unveiled at a ceremony in Thiruvananthapuram by UIDAI Chairman Neelkanth Mishra, who described the initiative as a key milestone in UIDAI’s efforts to simplify Aadhaar services and make related information more citizen-friendly.

Alongside the logo design competition, UIDAI also conducted a contest to name the new symbol. Riya Jain from Bhopal secured first place for naming the logo ‘Uday’, while Idris Davaiwala from Pune and Maharaj Sharan Chellapilla from Hyderabad won second and third prizes respectively. In the logo design category, the second prize went to a participant from Pune, Maharashtra, and the third to Krishna Sharma from Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh.

The launch of ‘Uday’ marks a significant step in refreshing Aadhaar’s public image, reinforcing UIDAI’s commitment to making digital identity services simple, inclusive, and easily understandable for every citizen.
