Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is set to experience intense rainfall and thunderstorms over the next few days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a Yellow Alert across several districts.
The weather department has predicted isolated heavy showers till Monday, urging the public to remain cautious and avoid risky areas, especially in regions vulnerable to landslides and flash floods.
On Saturday and Sunday, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Wayanad districts are expected to witness heavy rain. The alert will extend into Monday for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, and Idukki, where strong downpours are forecast.
According to the IMD, heavy rain denotes precipitation between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm in 24 hours. Authorities have warned of potential lightning, waterlogging, and travel disruptions as Kerala remains on weather watch.
