Thulavarsham has roared back to life in Kerala after a brief lull, with rains intensifying across the state as Cyclone Dithva weakens over the Bay of Bengal. The shift has made easterly winds favourable again, triggering renewed showers that are expected to continue till Saturday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts rain across all districts, with isolated spells of heavy downpour likely today and tomorrow.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning may also lash several regions in the coming days. Heavy rainfall is expected in Pathanamthitta, Idukki, and Ernakulam today, while Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Palakkad, Malappuram, and more districts may experience similar conditions on Wednesday. In view of the intensifying weather, authorities have issued a yellow alert for seven districts.
Heavy rain, defined as 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm within 24 hours, may also affect Sabarimala on Thursday, with IMD warning of the likelihood of thunderous showers in the hill shrine region.
