Thrissur Pooram 2025: Police Launch Special Cyber Team to Curb Communal Misinformation Online

Thrissur – With lakhs expected to gather for the grand spectacle of Thrissur Pooram, Kerala Police have intensified digital vigilance by deploying a special cyber monitoring team to prevent the spread of communal or provocative content online.

According to sources, 20 digitally trained officers have been assigned to closely monitor major social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and WhatsApp throughout the festival period.

The move comes as part of a proactive effort to safeguard communal harmony and ensure a peaceful celebration. The specially constituted team will work around the clock to identify and remove hate messages, fake news, and sensitive content that could potentially trigger unrest.

Officials have issued a stern warning against the misuse of social media, stating that strict legal action will be taken against those spreading inflammatory content or trying to disrupt public peace. The cyber team is also working in close coordination with local police units to ensure swift action if any violations are detected.

Authorities have urged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious or objectionable content they come across during the festival. This digital surveillance initiative is a key part of the comprehensive security strategy for Thrissur Pooram 2025 — one of South India’s most iconic temple festivals.
