Supreme Court Halts Police Action Against Isha Foundation, Transfers Case to Itself

In a major relief for Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev’s Isha Foundation, the Supreme Court has ordered a stay on further police action initiated by the Madras High Court. The apex court took over a habeas corpus petition filed by Dr. S. Kamaraj, who claimed his two daughters were being illegally detained at the ashram. After personally interacting with the women, Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud confirmed they were staying there voluntarily.

The Supreme Court directed Tamil Nadu police to file a status report and scheduled the next hearing for October 18, 2024. The case will now proceed under its supervision
