A devastating explosion tore through the Nowgam Police Station in Srinagar, leaving seven dead and 27 injured in a shocking incident late last night. The force of the blast caused severe damage to the police station and multiple nearby buildings.
Authorities said the explosion occurred while a forensic team was examining explosive materials seized in connection with a sophisticated “white-collar” terror network. The blast erupted suddenly during the sample collection process.
Among the injured are several police officers, forensic experts, and three civilians, all of whom have been rushed to nearby hospitals. Five victims remain in critical condition. Officials are currently working to identify those who lost their lives in the tragedy.
The explosives involved were part of a massive 360-kg cache recovered earlier from a rented residence in Faridabad linked to Dr. Muzammil Ganai, one of eight suspects arrested in the ongoing terror investigation. The materials had been transported to Srinagar by Jammu & Kashmir Police for forensic examination when the fatal blast occurred.
