Thiruvananthapuram: A disturbing case of ragging at Kariavattom Government College has been confirmed by an anti-ragging committee investigation, leading to police action against seven senior students.
The complaint, filed by first-year Biotechnology students Bins Jose and Abhishek, revealed physical assault and humiliation. CCTV footage and witness statements verified the involvement of seven third-year students.
Abhishek was allegedly taken to the union office and beaten for ‘disrespecting’ seniors, while Bins Jose was forced to kneel for 15 minutes and made to drink water after a senior spat into it.
The accused students—Alan, Ananthan, Velu, Shravan, Salman, Immanuel, and second-year student Parthan—have been booked by Kazhakootam police, but no arrests have been made so far.
