Kochi: The controversy surrounding Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko has taken a serious turn, with crucial meetings being held today in Kochi that could shape the film industry’s response. Both the internal committee of the film Sutravaakyam and the Film Chamber are convening to decide on the next course of action in the wake of allegations made by actress Vinci.
A four-member internal committee (IC) is currently evaluating the actress’s complaint. Any decisions taken by this body are binding on the film’s production and related industry associations.
The Film Chamber, scheduled to meet at 3 PM, is expected to review the IC’s findings and inform major industry bodies like AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists) and FEFKA (Film Employees Federation of Kerala) about potential disciplinary action.
Shine Tom Chacko has reportedly failed to provide an explanation to AMMA regarding the accusations. The deadline set by AMMA’s three-member committee has passed, with only Shine’s father having communicated with organization representatives. His silence will now be formally reported to the ad-hoc committee. An official decision is likely soon after all consultations are complete.
Meanwhile, in a parallel development, the Excise Department is intensifying its probe into the Alappuzha hybrid marijuana case. The three accused—Tasleema Sultana, her husband Sultan Akbar Ali, and their aide Firoz—will be taken into three-day custody and interrogated under senior officials. Authorities will also conduct evidence collection in several Kochi locations linked to the accused.
Interestingly, links between Shine Tom Chacko and prime accused Tasleema have also surfaced during the investigation. The Excise team is now focused on verifying these claims. Over 25 people have been questioned so far as the investigation widens.
