Kochi: Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko is facing serious allegations after actress Vinci Aloysius lodged a formal complaint with the Film Chamber, accusing him of drug use and inappropriate behavior during the shooting of the film Sutravaakyam.
According to Vinci’s complaint, Shine allegedly appeared to be under the influence of narcotics on set, causing frequent disruptions to the shooting schedule. She further claimed that he made sexually suggestive comments, which made her feel extremely uncomfortable and unsafe.
The actress revealed that the shooting location was near her home, so she was often on set, intensifying her emotional distress. She also claimed that other crew members were subjected to similar behavior, though many stayed silent at the time.
Despite the situation, Vinci said she chose to complete the project to avoid derailing the production for the sake of the team. The incidents allegedly occurred in November 2024.
In response to her complaint, both the State Intelligence and Excise Department have initiated preliminary inquiries. Officials have stated that legal action will follow if sufficient evidence emerges.
Taking the matter seriously, the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) has formed a three-member internal committee comprising actors Ansiba, Sarayu, and Vinu Mohan to investigate the charges.
As investigations unfold, the Malayalam film industry is closely watching the developments in what could become one of its most high-profile misconduct cases in recent years.
