Sanju Samson in the Yellow Jersey? CSK Eyes Rajasthan Royals Captain as Dhoni’s Heir

Chennai: In what could be one of the biggest shake-ups ahead of the next IPL season, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are reportedly eyeing Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson as the ideal successor to legendary captain MS Dhoni.

A senior official from CSK has confirmed that the franchise is seriously evaluating the Kerala-born star, both for his on-field prowess and leadership potential.

“Sanju is definitely on our radar. He’s a proven Indian batter, a solid wicketkeeper, and a reliable opener. We’re assessing the feasibility of bringing him into the squad. Talks are in the preliminary stages, but the intent is real and aligned with our long-term strategy,” said the CSK official.

CSK has reportedly approached Rajasthan Royals during the ongoing IPL transfer window to explore the possibility of a high-profile deal. Last season, Rajasthan retained Samson for a whopping ₹18 crore, reaffirming his stature as one of the league’s top assets.

If the deal materializes, Samson could don the iconic yellow jersey and step into the shoes of Dhoni, one of the greatest captains in IPL history. The news has already sparked major excitement among fans, with many envisioning a new era for CSK led by the dynamic Kerala cricketer.
