Sabarimala to Introduce 2.7 Km Ropeway for Pilgrims’ Convenience

Sabarimala: Plans are underway for a 2.7-kilometer ropeway system at the famous Sabarimala temple in Kerala, set to offer a safer and faster transit option for millions of pilgrims. This ropeway will span from Pampa to Sannidhanam, the temple’s central area, aiming to streamline pilgrim access, particularly during the peak Mandala-Makaravilakku season.

The project, which received approval from the Kerala government, is expected to enhance safety by reducing the physical strain of trekking through challenging terrain, especially for elderly and differently-abled devotees. The ropeway, designed for efficiency, will minimize travel time while offering scenic views of the surrounding landscape. Authorities are working on environmental assessments and approvals to ensure that the project respects the area’s ecological balance and spiritual significance.
