RK Film Festival Begins: A Grand Tribute to Raj Kapoor’s Legacy

The RK Film Festival kicks off today, marking a centenary celebration of the legendary Raj Kapoor, often hailed as the Showman of Indian Cinema. This festival, titled “Raj Kapoor 100 – Celebrating a Century of the Greatest Showman,” will showcase some of his most iconic films across 40 cities and 135 theatres, including chains like PVR-Inox and Cinepolis.

The festival features classics such as:

  1. Awara (1951)
  2. Bobby (1973)
  3. Shree 420 (1955)
  4. Jagte Raho (1956)
  5. Sangam (1964)
  6. Mera Naam Joker (1970)
  7. Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai (1960)

This event is organized by RK Films, the Film Heritage Foundation, and the NFDC-National Film Archive of India. With ticket prices set at an affordable ₹100, the festival aims to make Raj Kapoor’s films accessible to a broad audience and rekindle the magic of his work on the big screen.

Prominent members of the Kapoor family, including Randhir Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, and Karisma Kapoor, are actively participating to honor Raj Kapoor’s remarkable legacy, which continues to resonate with generations of film lovers.
