New Delhi: The Indian Navy’s tableau at the Republic Day 2026 parade on Kartavya Path drew widespread attention as it showcased India’s rich maritime heritage, the might of indigenous naval power through INS Vikrant, and the growing role of women in the armed forces under the theme of ‘Nari Shakti’.
The tableau prominently featured a striking model of INS Vikrant, India’s first indigenously built aircraft carrier, symbolising self-reliance in defence under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The display highlighted India’s transformation into a major maritime power capable of safeguarding its vast coastline and strategic interests in the Indian Ocean Region.
Alongside modern naval strength, the tableau celebrated India’s ancient seafaring legacy, depicting traditional ships and navigational symbols that reflected the country’s long-standing connection with the seas, trade routes, and maritime exploration.
A key highlight of the tableau was the representation of women officers and sailors, underscoring the Indian Navy’s commitment to gender equality and empowerment. The ‘Nari Shakti’ segment showcased women serving in frontline roles, including aboard warships and in aviation, symbolising the Navy’s evolving, inclusive force structure.
The Indian Navy’s presentation received applause from spectators and dignitaries alike, effectively blending tradition with modernity and conveying a powerful message of strength, self-reliance, and inclusivity as India celebrated its 77th Republic Day.
