RCB Raises Compensation to ₹25 Lakh for Families of Chinnaswamy Stampede Victims

Bengaluru: In a heartfelt gesture, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has announced ₹25 lakh compensation for each family of the 11 fans who lost their lives in the stampede at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium during the team’s IPL title celebration. The initiative, launched under ‘RCB Cares,’ comes as the franchise pays tribute to its supporters.

On June 4, 2025, nearly 2.5 lakh fans had thronged the stadium to celebrate RCB’s maiden IPL triumph. The overwhelming crowd led to chaos and a stampede, leaving 11 dead and several others injured.

Initially, the team announced ₹10 lakh assistance, but after deep reflection and public grief, the amount has been increased to ₹25 lakh per bereaved family.

“Our hearts broke on June 4, 2025. We lost 11 members of our RCB family. Their absence will forever remain in our memories,” the franchise posted emotionally on X.

RCB lifted their first-ever IPL trophy on June 3 in Ahmedabad after defeating Punjab Kings in the final — but the celebrations a day later were overshadowed by tragedy, leaving the cricketing community in mourning.
