Rahul Mamkootathil Faces Fresh Heat: Crime Branch Summons MLA in Fake ID Card Scandal

Thiruvananthapuram: Beleaguered MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, already battling allegations of misconduct against women, is once again under the scanner. The Crime Branch has served him a notice to appear for questioning on Saturday in connection with the fake identity card racket tied to the Youth Congress state president elections.

The case, which first stirred controversy during the Youth Congress polls, involved the alleged creation of bogus voter ID cards. While the Thiruvananthapuram Museum Police had initially questioned Rahul, investigators then claimed there was no direct evidence linking him to the fraud.

But the probe has taken a new turn. Several of Rahul’s close associates were arrested earlier, and forensic analysis of their seized phones revealed a voice message from the third accused that made a direct reference to the MLA. This revelation has prompted the Crime Branch to summon Rahul again for clarification.

Rahul’s political career has already suffered setbacks. He was forced to resign as Youth Congress state president after multiple women accused him of harassment. Soon after, he was suspended from both the Congress party and the parliamentary wing, retreating from public life for the past week.

Now, with the fake ID card scandal resurfacing, the noose around Rahul Mamkootathil is tightening yet again, threatening to deepen his political troubles.
