Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made a bold statement by carrying a “Palestine”-emblazoned bag to Parliament, expressing her solidarity with the Palestinians amid the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict. This act drew sharp criticism from BJP leaders, who questioned the appropriateness of her gesture.
In her defense, Priyanka Gandhi dismissed the criticism as “typical patriarchy”, asserting her right to personal expression. She remarked, “Who is going to decide what clothes I wear now? That’s typical patriarchy… I will wear what I want.”
The next day, Priyanka Gandhi, along with other opposition MPs, carried bags advocating for minority rights in Bangladesh, with slogans like “Stand with Bangladeshi Hindus and Christians”.
Her actions have sparked renewed discussions on India’s stance on international conflicts and minority issues, with Priyanka emphasizing the need for global solidarity and the protection of human rights.
